Kurt Wirth

Kurt Wirth (1917 to 1996) lived and worked in Berne. He served an apprenticeship as a graphic designer and opened his own studio in 1938. He co-founded the “Verband Schweizerischer Grafiker” (Swiss Graphic Designers Association) in 1938, over which he presided in the 1950s. Wirth was among the leading Swiss graphic designers after the Second World War, but he also made paintings and drawings, which were less well known. Many of his posters were awarded prizes and his works were shown in national and international exhibitions.
